Sakurako Matsushima makes artworks and jewellery using the natural lacquering technique of urushi, incorporating gold dust and mother of pearl. By applying the molding technique kanshitsu, she is able to shape her works while retaining a lightweight structure. Matsushima is represented by the Hong Kong-based Gallery by SOIL, who bring together lacquer masters and artists.
