BACK TO REGIONKyo Kanoko-shibori, also known as Kyoto Tie-dyeing, is a technique that involves tightly binding cloth with threads and applying pressure before dyeing, to create a contrasting pattern of colours and even images. The resulting patterns are said to resemble the spots on the back of a small deer, a fitting likeness for a craft practice inspired by the natural world — as kanoko literally means “fawn”.
